The State Committee on Construction and Housing of Russia will conduct the Investments Opportunities in the Construction Sector of Russia Roundtable in the framework of the 5th Annual Russian Economic Forum, which will be held in The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Center on 17-19 April 2002 and will be supported by the Russian Government.

The Russian Economic Forum is the premiere international business-to-business event dedicated to exploring Russia's place in the global economy and its viability as a target for international investment. Each April, the Forum brings hundreds of political leaders, captains of industry and journalists to London from all around the world. 2001 saw a new high in attendance figures, with over 900 delegates and 65 speakers.

In a press conference in Britain on Friday 21 December, Russian President Vladimir Putin and British Prime Minister Tony Blair drew special attention to the Russian Economic Forum. Speaking about Russian-British trade and investment, Mr. Putin said, "The Russian Economic Forum in London in April 2002 will be the culminating event in Russian-British trade and economic relations. We chose London as a platform for presenting the Russian economy in the West due to the high level of relations between our two countries. I am grateful to Prime Minister Tony Blair for his support for this influential and highly respected initiative."

The Investment Opportunities in the Construction Sector of Russia Roundtable, moderated by the Chairman of the State Committee on Construction and Housing, is to become one of the key events of the Forum. It will be attended by high-rank Russian government officials, MPs, governors of the Russian regions, top-managers of the most prominent companies working in the construction and financial sectors, international experts and investors. There are a presentation of the investment projects, supported by the Russian government, and an open discussion of important issues of the investments process in Russia in the program.
